One of the public programs for Theo Wujcik: Cantos was a dance party at the MFA. It was like being at the Castle but no fog, no smoke, and being home by 10 pm. The best.

It was fun (and funny) to dress up for a night at the Castle (black everything, Docs, heavy eyeliner lol) to meander down Beach Drive in St. Pete. This is definitely a Tampa look.

The decorations–chain link projections and patio umbrellas from Theo’s paintings–were a perfect touch.

Like old times at the Castle, I became an absolute brat on the dance floor. Made enemies, aggressively took up space to neuter their influence, then left them to go take all their attention by dancing on the stage. I’m available to humiliate your enemies on the dance floor.

Good dance floor experiences outweighed the bad. I danced with several octogenarians, and the artist’s wife, whose outfit gave me life.

I was home and in bed before the real Castle even opened for the night. An absolutely perfect night.
